[AccessD] Access 2k - Report group counter

I have a report where I want to count the number of unique People in a
group that received checks.  If I tried to count the PEOPLE_ID I get a
count of the number of checks. I know this has been discussed before but
I just cant find it.  
   Grp1
     p1  ch1
         ch2
        Total amt  <checkcnt>
     p2  ch1
        total amt  <checkcnt>
GRP1 total people 3    --- instead of 2  If I try to count the group
total line COUNT checkcnt in another group it won't let me do that 

Been fighting this all morning and in a bit of a rush.
