By default installations of MSDE do not allow remote connections. You can use SVRNETCN.EXE to enable network protocols - it's the SQL Server Network Utility. cheers Michael M -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Joe Rojas Sent: Tuesday, 20 June 2006 4:50 AM To: Access Developers discussion and problem solving Subject: [AccessD] Access 2003 and MSDE2000 Hi All, I am trying to connect to server running a named instance of MSDE2000. When specifying the settings for the data link connection, I enter the server name as ServerName\InstanceName but I keep getting the "SQL Server does not exist or access denied" >From the Server, I can connect to and manage MSDE2000 using Enterprise Manager (I installed EM after the fact) by registering ServerName\InstanceName. Am I missing something?
