Yes, Marty, I can directly link tables from MS SQL Server 2000.

I do use MS Windows 2003 Server SP1.

I think now it's firewall *Agnitum Outpost) which blocks Upsizing Wizard 
"talking" to MS SQL.

I will check based on your refs.(Currently have to do other urgent work)
