Martin, Sounds like a pretty good guess, but since it is just a guess, sounds like a quick test is in order. Create a DB with a single table with no complex data type. Check those system tables and they should be empty. Then alter the table design and check again. You should find something in there at that point. That should be enough to verify that they are indeed being used for what you think.
