Hey everybody - I ended up re-installing, but it wasn't to painful - because
the install exe file actually had a 'repair' option!!  So the corruption has
been taken care of, and I've re-imported all my custom stuff.  And from now
on I faithfully swear to make backups on a daily basis.  Honest.
