[AccessD] VERY strange LDB issue

Nope, just opening Access 2003, then opening an .mdb on a network drive. This is occurring on different .mdb's, with both his desktop and laptop machines, on both wireless and wired networks.  The only similarity, so far, is that it's him logged in.... but he doesn't have any different permissions on that folder then I do....

I see an oriental character set.
Maybe he is connecting by code and not switching from or setting the 
codepage.
