Hi Jim I can see the value and power in the algorithm link you posted Does anyone know of a VB equivalent? I know nothing about Delphi or how to 'convert' from Delphi to VB(A) Darren -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Jim Lawrence Sent: Wednesday, 13 February 2008 10:39 AM To: 'Access Developers discussion and problem solving' Subject: Re: [AccessD] OT RE: Rar vs winzip Hi Arthur: There are only a limited number of compression algorithms and as far as I know they are all in the public domain, in one form or another (check out the open source community if you have any doubts.). You are only paying for the implementation and packaging now. I use to use and very much like LZH compression (http://www.sxlist.com/techref/language/delphi/swag/ARCHIVES0041.html) along with the PKZIP group of compression routines. It can generate standard Zip files too. If you right-click from the Explorer window, choose "add to archive" instead of automatically naming the file. A dialog comes up enabling you to switch from RAR to ZIP format. Arthur On Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 12:38 PM, jwcolby <jwcolby at colbyconsulting.com> wrote: > Yep, and that is precisely what happened.
