It's been voted on in the past. The problem is that not everyone has an email program that makes multiple sigs easy (one for personal, one for business, etc). Since some people choose to have political statements in the tag lines for all their email, that's really their choice. As long as it's not adult in nature, or specifically attacking a list member, there shouldn't really be a problem. Personally, I am offended at the 'legal notices' in emails...it's a waste of electrons, and the mail server I use tags it in (as a company policy).....so I'd have to ban myself!
