Keep in mind, that you can do all the typical query stuff with the ADO
'excel' connection.

This is much clearer now and I understand how it is working.  I might
also add it is somewhat timely as well. I will be needing to use just
this sort of method in the next week or so and was wondering how it
could be done best.
