That sounds pretty cool, if it works.  However, I wouldn't myself feel 
comfortable about relying on the Tab Order of the subform to manage this 
for you.  If the subform has not already been accessed during the 
session, no worries, but I think there is a danger that if the form has 
been previously accessed then the focus could be on a control other than 
the "first".

Just a thought.
