The ID fields are numeric. However, for reasons which I will never be able to figure out, it suddenly began to work. I tried your method actually but put the value into an invisible text box on the form. And it went through. Then, because it was so esthetically offensive, I put it back to the original syntax and it worked. Access - ya gotta love it...
