[AccessD] OT: Pandora

Max,

I really don't understand the reasoning behind this restriction. It all has to do with paying
royalties to the various artists, songwriters etc. The only thing I can think of is that the
royalties paid by listeners outside of the US differs from the royalties paid for US listeners.
Even then you would think that they could just charge you a different amount to use the service.

Or perhaps it has to do with serving advertisements. To pay for "free" services, they often serve
up advertisements both in the web page as you use the application, and in the sound stream. If you
are outside of the US the advertisements would have to change or they would not be paid for
streaming you the songs. It would get rather complex to change the advertisements for each country
that a user resides in.

You would still think that if you pay for the service that you could then be allowed into the club.
They all advertise "no advertisements for paid subscribers".
