Andy ... It's FRIDAY! You can't expect me to give you a serious reply. There is free software out there, and if I use it and it sucks then, as you say, I can't complain. The grouse is with vendors who pretend their software is free when it isn't. Last night I wanted to convert something from one music format to another. Found a "free" utility which, only after I'd downloaded, installed and run it, told me it would convert the first 30 seconds and then wanted payment to do more. That doesn't fall into the "get what you pay for" category, more the "pretending to be what it is not" category. I later found a truly free utility; a bit rough around the edges but did what it said and did it for nothing. What looked like free software was the usual free trial of limited features. Wish there was a quick way to distinguish the truly free. Anyone got the magic key to this? It is really a time waster, grrrrr.. My Friday rant.
