Jim, > the connecting to the backend I presume you mean with ADO not DAO The rest sounds interesting but I could always convert to 2007 if I needed to do this stuff. I needed the runtime for a non-profit that's budget is next to nil. Anyway there are a few things that I like. Each date field has a date picker (a little calendar) that is easy to use. Another thing, is each form has search capability that the user can search by a specific field or by the record set behind the form. I also needed to be able to have an Access database shared by several geographically separated (three different states) users. I was able to convert the database to 2007 from 2003 and migrate it to SharePoint. I also work as a SharePoint Administrator. The process was for the user to download the Access database from the SharePoint site to their machine. Once downloaded, Access used SharePoint as the data repository. Updating records from the various locations is "real" time... that is it is quick but not as quick as if on a network. But, it is usable. There a few subtle differences in the VB code but not much. One difference is the connecting to the backend to create and modify tables. If coding in A2003, then open A2007 you get an error... but if you open the code in the VB edit in A2007 it will tell you what changes need to be made for A2007. OBTW... the changes work in A2003 - go figure.
