Had the same requirement in a legacy app that was using an SMTP approach an CDO. But it stopped working - don't really know why - obsolete technology? Client is using Exchange - don't know that that's relevant. Anyway, I have implemented vbSendMail and it seems to work pretty smoothly. I got turned on to it by the list. You can probably find the thread in the archives. Using the Windows scheduler, we can initiate Access, run the reports, and store them as PDF files. This all works nicely. We keep running into obstacles with every approach that we have tried to automate the e-mailing of these reports in an unattended environment (Terminal Services / Remote Desktop). We would prefer to use Outlook, but we are open to other approaches. We are curious how others handle this situation.
