I used to always believe that I could do something in much less time that it actually took me. Then I started to really drill down to see how much time a project would take. Lately I've adding 30% to my best estimate, which helps me get closer to actual time. If a change is needed, I estimate that too, no matter how small. So what I've been doing is over-estimating, to compensate for my over-optimisim!
