I use it in much the same way as you.  

The main thing the Pro version does is let you sort within a fence automtically by name, date 
etc rather than having to arrange the icons individual by drag and drop.  It guess it would be 
useful if you put "lots" of files in a fence, otherwise not a great benefit

Apparently what Dan wants is to turn off the "automatic snap to grid" inside a fence and 
without that ability , he thinks that the application is worthless.
