A couple of questions : What do you do if the dog eats your ledger? Shouldn't you use a quill and inkwell to prevent alteration of the records? I still keep the corporate records in pencil on a 13 column green sheet because it's effective, easy to add/change/delete, never have to worry about backups, etc. I could move to QuickBooks and spent 3x the time keeping the records.
