Hi John: The only way I have found to work around older versions of IE is not to use them. Some of my websites politely ask the client to update to a newer version and suggest alternative, with links to Firefox and Chrome or IE9. There is no way to automate the process that I know of or there would be no security. I do not want to go into IE for every damned site I want to do something on and add an exception, that is just NUTS! And yet even third party tools that use IE are blocked. This is NUTS. For some reason the main security tab is entirely grayed out, I cannot just slide the slider down to turn of IE security. I am Googling and everything says to add to that stupid list. That is NUTS! There are half a billion web sites! I found http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/flags.htm and mucked with the registry, essentially setting Zone3 Flags to a 3 but that did not help.
