Anyone who knows anything about video games knows that Valve and Blizzard belong to a handful of highly influential and important gaming companies and publishers out there. Lately they have become vocal about their views on Windows 8 and it has not been positive at all. > "I think Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space. I think we'll lose some of the top-tier PC/OEMs, who will exit the market. I think margins will be destroyed for a bunch of people. If that's true, then it will be good to have alternatives to hedge against that eventuality," said Newell according to an AllThingsD report. > Now that statement has been backed up by executive vice president of game design at Blizzard Rob Pardo. "nice interview with Gabe Newell - "I think Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space* - not awesome for Blizzard either," Source: http://www.idigitaltimes.com/articles/10481/20120727/windows-8-pending-release-marred-blizzard-valve.htm The strength of Windows has long been due to video games and MS Office (although I would say video games has been disproportionately more important). If a company like Valve is expending this much effort to bring their platform to Linux, this is surely a clear sign that Windows 8 is in for a bumpy ride - perhaps worse than what was with Vista. Microsoft is burning bridges left and right these days. - Hans
