Hi Gustav: Well that could work as long as the data pulled is less than 2 GB. It would be an interesting exercise but I wonder about the speed. There is a host of Open Source reporting tools out there but I have no idea as to their quality and of course there is commercial products like Navicat software delivered at a reasonable price...all targeted directly towards PostgreSQL. My point is that you could set up a main database engine of any kind (like PostgreSQL) and let SQL Server Express pull or import data from the main engine to create the reports. /gustav >>> accessd at shaw.ca 22-03-2012 16:25 >>> Hi Gustav: PostgreSQL is one of the most powerful enterprise relational database servers available, at any price. It can link to external databases. Cost = 0. /gustav >>> darren at activebilling.com.au 20-03-2012 23:09 >>> Hi Team Brains Trust Question: We will soon be moving away from SQL Server. We will most likely be moving to PostgreSQL At the moment we are using MS Reporting Services for our reporting platform. We will be starting to look at other reporting tools soon. So, to that end, what does the group recommend for reporting tools?
