Yes, I follow you, Jim, thanks. Of course, there is no warning like that. One assumes we can drop the dvd into place, and the rest happens like magic. It didn't with the PC. I don't think it was older than two years. I gave it away afterwards to a needy friend. I was able to install Vista (I think) on it for the friend. Extraordinary to find that with this OS we have to buy a new licence for each machine. Amazing how greed has moved into this world in such a gigantic way - and yet where is the huge cry of complaint! It seems that the graphic accelerator had to be set on (or was it off?), in the BIOS, on the computer. Windows 8.x seems to have not problem installing on the latest hardware but there appears to have been little effort on supporting legacy hardware (4-5 years or older) and if that hardware does not support a UEFI upgrade, there can be more issues. > > Jim > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "paul" <paul at wordwright.org> > To: "Access Developers discussion and problem solving" <accessd at databaseadvisors.com> > Sent: Monday, 4 November, 2013 12:41:33 PM > Subject: Re: [AccessD] Windows 8.1 > > Hello Jim > I think this was the website where it began - > http://techtalk.pcpitstop.com/2013/10/17/windows-8-1-now-available/?win81= > > It had been recommended around the middle of last month.
