I think you are referring to the same settings - "Track Name Autocorrect info" and "Perform Name Autocorrect". These are what they are called in A2010. Turning these off definitely helps with performance especially as your database grows in number of forms. If still slow, one option would be to create a blank database and import your objects into it.
