It have been around forever and it popularity just keeps growing and it keeps morphing into more children like Java, C++, C# and so on. Virtually all languages and OSs are built from the C root...like Windows, Linux, OSx and languages like Phython, PHP, Ruby, Perl and so on and so on and yes, even COBOL.

Jim, I seem to recall similar remarks being made about COBOL back in the
day.  Funny how stuff sticks around when it's useful and the wheel is
really squeaky.
