OK I almost wiped the disk yesterday and loaded W7 Ultimate but decided since I don't use the laptop much so I've decided to keep it and try to get used to it. For the present. It's on thin ice. First thing I did when I got my Win 8 laptop. Then I cleared out all the tiles that MS thought I wanted and only showed tiles that are useful to me. With 8.1, I grouped tiles in various sizes into logical groupings. The only "live" tile on my start menu is Windows Store, and that's mainly because I keep forgetting to turn it off. My laptop loads the modern screen at startup and then switches to desktop. I do all my work from desktop. No gestures, I use a mouse and keyboard, thank you. In fact, I even prefer to use a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard with my Windows tablet PC. Embrace the borg. You WILL be assimilated!
