John,

 Two basic approaches:

1. Include it on distribution and let the user install on their own based on
instructions you provide.   Then have your app ask for the instance.

2. Do it as part of the apps install:

 Which gets a little more complex.

Does anyone know how to package up sql server lite for distribution and
installation?  If I start to 
write an unbound framework, writing it against SQL Server Express is the
optimum scenario.  The 
reader will not necessarily have SQL Server installed already.
