I couldn't agree with you more. Considering that a "Let's Encrypt" certificate is free: https://letsencrypt.org/

Here is a link to a tiny script to renew your certification, if you are not using your domain host provider's certication's services. It should be noted, that real men and women roll their own site certifications. ;-):
