Yes, there will be a new browser control, backed by Edge, rather than IE, here's the blog post that lists some upcoming development, including this:

No specific release date yet.  The old control will not be removed so for scenarios where it isn't broken, it will continue to work.

No idea about a new one.  The old one is deprecated, though it still works because I actually tried to use it.  However it uses IE behind the scenes which is a security risk and gets lots of "we don't allow this" kinds of push back.
