[AccessD] Find and Replace

There are a couple of other F&R's out there besides Bret's:

vTools Total Search: https://www.skrol29.com/us/vtools.php
https://accessdevtools.com/product/find-and-replace/

I've tried them all, and sadly, Rick's was the best. It worked on all versions of Access and had a cross reference feature that no one else has. It's unfortunate that Rick's utility has suffered the fate of 64 bit. He did get out a 64-bit version early on, but it doesn't always work with current versions of Access. Since it is MDE/ACCDE based, I think all it would need is a re-compile and it would be good to go.

I really wish he would have made provisions to have his code carry on. It is such a wonderful tool and served so many for so long. Everyone is assuming he has moved on at this point, as no one has heard from him in many years, but as noted, the odd thing is is that the web site is still up.

I considered approaching Wayne Phillips to decompile the MDE, recompile it, and host it for free to everyone in honor of Rick. Legally though, I don't have a foot to stand on and I've been unable to find anyone associated with him or his estate. We don't even know if he's actually passed away or not for sure.

Jim.

Not only a good replacement - it worked! Martin Reid saves my bacon once
again! AccessD saves my bacon once again! for what? 25 years now? (At least)

This app - because the client changes stuff all the time - some very major
stuff, but to his credit it generally makes real valuable changes for the
way he does business (deep breath) Anyway, there are lots of objects that
are obsolete and fields in tables that are obsolete. And I need to clean
them out (also do some commenting) as one day before too long, I'm going to
stop doing this. And I'd like to pass this app on in real good shape, real
clean.

Thanks for that link Martin.
