I took over the Access journal before VBA showed up, but I don't remember if
it was the first version, without Basic or the next with it. I was a
spreadsheet guru, and I didn't want to take on the Access journal. It took
three conversations with the managing editor. Finally, I said, "We keep
talking, and I keep saying no, but I get the feeling I don't really have a
choice, do I?" He said, "No, it's yours."

Once I got the hang of it, I loved it. But you must remember, that was back
in the doors before the internet was a fountain of information. We were
still on our own for the most part.

You both, and many others here, beat me to using Access. I had been using
Informix on the Unix box and R:Base on the PCs and really enjoyed that. But
somewhere in the mid 90's I talked to a support person and they were
perseverating about Redmond luring all of their staff away so he didn't know
when this issue would get fixed. I knew the writing was on the wall. I
started switching everything to Access '97.
