[AccessD] Law of Unintended Consequences

VPN used to just be a protocol to give remote workers access to a
corporate LAN (I.E. a Virtual Private Network). That was useful but the
need for more security seems to have put it increasingly out of favour.
In the meantime products named after the VPN protocol are being pushed for
other reasons, perhaps just to legitimise its use to obfuscate the location
of the user.
If I wanted to download movies not yet released in my country or porn or
software restricted for export to my country or to communicate seditious
messages without the authorities finding me - then modern VPN tools would
be useful to me.
Hiding in order to break the rules isn't me. I believe our world functions
better when we respect each other's rules.
