A2K, you have to open Access dbs in Exclusive Mode to do any design
changes. When you double-click on an A2K or higher db you are opening it
in Shared Mode unless you saved it to open as Exclusive Mode. One of the
ways to open it in Exclusive Mode to do design changes is to hold down the
Shift key while opening to bypass the normal startup

with a totally unbound FE (AXP) app and have started to get this error when I

database and re-open it hold the Shift Key to display the DB window - No
Problems all is OK. As soon as I run the app and then go to make some design
