Mark

I have heard (NB: hearsay, not personal first-hand experience) that SP4
does not leave the usual obvious evidence of having been installed. By
which I mean that Help\About still says *after* successful installation
whatever it said beforehand.

But then of course it would also say that if the installation had
totally failed. Maybe there is a bug clearance in SP4 that you could
check fairly easily? - to gain some confidence that the installation may
have succeeded, at least partly?!

I may get the chance to try this myself over the weekend, and will
report my experience if I do.

HTH a bit
John
