[dba-SQLServer] Log file

Martin,

When I tried this (I'm assuming the log file is the .LDF?) I couldn't get
the SQL Server to open the database.

One of the things I did recently was to actually detach a databse and log
file. I thenremoved the log file completely as it was HUGH. Put it away
soemwhere safe.

I then reattached the MDF file and had SQL automatically recreate a new
empty log file. Not sure how professional this is but appeared to work fine
for my needs.

You can also move the log out somewhere else

detach the database
move the log to its new location

reattach

sp_attachdb Yourdb PATH
LOGFile Path

Should be OK

Oh and back it all up first if you have the disc space.
