Hi Charlotte: Now I wonder what you did or did not do differently? I still have a server that when SQL2000 is installed and it runs super-slow. It all works but 2 minutes between refreshes is too painful. Installed on another server it is working fine so have just abandoned the other one. (Mind you at $375.00 from M$, a helpdesk call could resolve it all..., yeh.) I am very glad to hear you have everything up and running. :-) Jim -----Original Message----- From: dba-sqlserver-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-sqlserver-bounces at databaseadvisors.com]On Behalf Of Charlotte Foust Sent: Wednesday, June 09, 2004 9:00 AM To: dba-sqlserver at databaseadvisors.com Subject: RE: [dba-SQLServer] Can't Register Server - FINALLY Well, after 3 uninstalls and reinstalls, SQL Server finally allowed me to register a server! That pounding you heard last night was my head beating on the wall. :-{ I could get EM up and I could even get QA up, although of course neither of them really worked since they couldn't connect to an active server, but I couldn't register a server until that last install. Nothing changed in between except my frustration level and the name of the server, but suddenly there it was. I've kept it upgraded until 2.7. I won't put 2.8 on until I install the VB.Net stuff. It comes up as NEWBOOK.
