John,

I was looking for a posting with something similar to the fix
that was recommended to me for our corporate network. In this post,
the item on changing the local security policy, "Access this computer
from the network" is where I had to add a coworkers domain name (WFW):
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22SQL+Server%22+%22login+failed+for%22+lo
cal+security+policy&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=1bOkWA4XCHA.1576%40cpmsftngxa07&
rnum=8

There is also this one talking about some sort of XP specific setting
which might also apply in your case (WFW):
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=afe2f3eb.0309111141.
