Susan, 
I agree if you have only one machine -- never risk your bread-and-butter --
but my approach is to have several boxes, only one of which is critical. The
others I can toast at will with no loss of code or data.

The only real advice there is Jim -- don't install betas. :) 

As for MS, SS Express, and VB Express, the kinks finally seem to be worked
out.
