It appears that once SQL Server is accessed from another computer, it hangs windows attempting to shut down. IOW the server shuts down just fine until I access SQL Server - look at data, try to design a table etc. After that point Windows 2003 simply refuses to shut down / restart. Often it will completely clear the screen, explorer itself will shut down (and not reopen) but the server simply will not reboot and a hard reboot (push the power button is the only way to get it to reboot. Furthermore, while it is in this state, you can get back in to SQL Server from another machine which again indicates that SQL Server services are refusing to shut down. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to force the shutdown / reboot? John W. Colby Colby Consulting www.ColbyConsulting.com
