Further to that, if I (for example) click on a method of the stringbuilder class, it will return a page on the string builder. However if I try to enter "stringbuilder" in the index to the left, it does not find it, ostensibly because the index is being filtered to SQL Server stuff which does not have "stringbuilder". Thus I cannot go to the help and search for VB.Net objects directly, I have to USE an object, then click on a class member to get help about that class. Rather unhelpful. John W. That drop down only contains things starting with SQL Server, it has an entire list, but all of them are SQL Server. As for the drop downs you mention, the language drop down has only Vb.net and VB6 selected. Modifying those dropdowns do not change the contents of the "filtered by" dropdown on the left hand side. Basically I cannot see VB stuff at all. It is difficult to say for sure because there are so many, but it appears that the index objects are all SQL Server related. John W. Does anyone know how to select the help file in Visual Studio? ATM when I hit F1 the help file for SQL Server opens. Every part of the help file clearly states that it is SQL Server. I cannot get "VB.NET" help to display which makes it mighty difficult to get at syntax and stuff for VB. TIA John W.
