Hi John:

But it will run with only 1 GB of RAM. Please note that the new
'Unbreakable' Linux is far from it as it is just an older ripped-off
de-branded Redhat version and is buggy with the latest hardware. Example: Do
not try and run their 64bit version... it fails on a number of the current
platforms and the product will not run with Intel's latest CPU without
disable the advanced interrupt features. Fortunately, that can be turned off
through startup code. If you are thinking of running a Linux version of
Oracle it is strongly recommended that you use either Debian or Ubuntu
Linux... far superior in design and stability.

Subject: [dba-SQLServer] Interesting article - Oracle "lite" benchmarks

The article claims that Oracle is bundling their own Linux and their free
version of Oracle so you can get a "free" database going, even down to the
OS. Of course the article states that Oracle is so huge that it requires
8gb of RAM to work well. But memory is cheap right now.
