Jim, 

I agree. But the current situation requires that you first export the data 
set from SQL Server or whatever DB is your choice, and then use R to 
analyze the exported data. MS claims that implementing R in a sandbox 
inside SQL would eliminate that middle step. So I've read, anyway.
