Marty,
If you have SpyBot S&D installed check the switch that disables the user
from changing the home page (must start it in advanced mode).

Have a look at http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/homepage.htm

It has a few things to try.

If this is a corporate install of IE6, the admins may have used the IEAK and
disabled the ability to make changes to the home page. in which case you may
be Outta Luck.
