A few issues. Documentation on W2003 is just barely coming out. We just recently migrated our network from an NT 4 domain, to AD using W2003. We have a mix of clients, going all the way down to W95. Things went pretty smoothly, with only a few bumps. One such bump is that by Default, W2003 tries forcing Kerebos Encryption on communication. This type of encryption slows things down, and is unavailable with 9x machines. This setting can be changed to either 'when available', or 'disabled'. With it being forced, a lot of our machines were a lot slower on the network, and none of the 9x machines could connect. If a customer was thinking of upgrading from NT4 Server would the consensus of opinion be to go to W2003 Server or W2000 Server? I ask because he has a mix of W98 and W2K clients so is familiar with W2K and is therefore drawn to W2K Server (still just about available to buy). But it will no doubt have a shorter life than W2003 Server. So that is one point in W2003 Server's favour, but what are the other pros and cons? -- Andy Lacey http://www.minstersystems.co.uk ________________________________________________ Message sent using UebiMiau 2.7.2 _______________________________________________ dba-Tech mailing list dba-Tech at databaseadvisors.com http://databaseadvisors.com/mailman/listinfo/dba-tech Website: http://www.databaseadvisors.com
