I did not folowed the whole thread...
Is it only you HKEY_CURRENT_USER, giving you this problem?

If so, you could reset security on that.
If you have windows XP Regedit and regedt32 are the same program.
There was only a difference in previous windows versions.

Open regedt32

Rightclick on HKEY_CURRENT_USER (Windows XP)
Or
Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER and click security in the menubar (previous
windows).

Select permissions

Verify if the administrators group is in there.
Check if Allow READ and FULL Control are selected.

Verify if your current user is in there
Check if Allow READ and FULL Control are selected.

Verify if your RESTRICTED user is in there
Check if Allow READ are selected.

Verify if your SYSTEM user is in there
Check if Allow READ and FULL Control are selected.

Click ADVANCED
Select Reset permissions on all child objects....

If you are not able to make these changes you probably do not have
administrator rights on your computer, or they have been removed....

This can also happen when you copy a USER.DAT file from another user.

Yup, you had it right, my eyes just "assumed" it wrong. But regedt32
doesn't find Ofoto anyplace, and when I drill down from
HKEY_CURRENT_USER to Software, there is no Windows folder to drill down
further.
