Well... That is a good question. I know that my plain wireless router can function as just a router without being the DHCP server. In the end a windows server machine is often the DHCP server and a router is still supposed to work in that environment. OTOH I have seen at least one gripe about one model of one brand in this regard. John W. It would be nice to set up both and have the wife's laptop (using the B protocol) use the existing router and my laptop (using the G protocol) use the new router. I know that you can specify the channel number at the router, but can you nail down the channel number at the receiving end? IOW force the old laptop to use channel 9 and my laptop to use channel 2 (or something like that). John W.
