Jon, Yes, that was it! The biggest problem with WMP is that when you rip CDs it (used to anyway) only does it in .wma format. Which is great if you only use WMP. Some CD/DVD player units do .wma cds too but not all. MMJ used to offer a free version with nag screens or something. Worth it for testing out. WinAmp would be another app. I tried it and just never took to it. But its pretty popular. -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Jon Tydda Sent: Tuesday, June 28, 2005 11:02 AM To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues' Subject: RE: [dba-Tech] cd-burning software You can burn from wmp, it uses the roxio plug in, but it only burns as an audio cd, even with a full version of roxio installed. I want to create an mp3 cd for my car stereo... I might have to have a look at the jukebox when I get my new pc within the next month or so... Last time I did that they had crippled the burn speed to being very slow but it worked. That's what I have my in-laws using yet because its easier than having them try to learn the faster CD burning software on their PC. I haven't really checked out the latest version of WMP much so a lot of what I know is based on old info. I use MusicMatch Jukebox (which I paid for the eternal subscription so I get all the upgrades). It's a bit easier to use, has more features and is more powerful than WMP. But you get what you pay for. I started out using WMP and the nice thing is they can both use the same folder file structure although they have separate databases for their "libraries". MMJ also can rename the files directly so that when I edit the database info and can change that right there. I've got lots of cd's ripped on my hard drive (legally) and because some of them are by "various artists" they're stored in a "Various Artists" folder on the hard drive, making it a pain to select the tracks I want to put on the cds... Ideally I'd like to be able to burn mp3 cd's straight from WMP, but I don't know if I can do that either... Is there anything out there that can do this for me? on The information in this e-mail is confidential and may also be legally privileged.
