Actually step 5 is probably your fastest alternative if all you want is the data. John W. Maybe there is no password on the local administrator. 2) Can you login as the regular user? Maybe the user has full rights on the local (pc) domain If so, go into the local pc's user administrator and erase the password of the administrator. 3) If you can see all the users ( with administrative rights) from the local (pc) domain, try them all. Maybe theres one with no password. 4) Theres is a tool you can purchase to get or erase(??) the administrators password from the local pc domain. A fast google will get you there. 5) If its only a question of getting data, put the disk into another computer and copy what you need. And then reinstall Windows (format the disk first is my preferation, but you loose all data). Hope this helps Erwin -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Jon Tydda Sent: Thursday, November 17, 2005 10:36 AM To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues' Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] Accessing a pc Yeah, no-one knows how to contact any of them either... sometimes this place is worse than useless :-) Jon -----Original Message----- From: John Colby [mailto:jwcolby at ColbyConsulting.com] Sent: 16 November 2005 17:39 To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues' Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] Accessing a pc LOL, I guess the ex user isn't QUITE redundant eh? Trouble is, it still thinks it's attached to their old network. Their old network has been assimilated into ours, and I need to get at some data on this pc, remove it, and prep it for a user. Except I don't know the administrator password, so I can't log in to get it onto our network... Does anyone know how I can get into this pc? Reinstalling is not an option, as we need to take data off it first... TIA Jon The information in this e-mail is confidential and may also be legally privileged.
