[dba-Tech] Turn Soundtrack from a DVD into a CD

Couldn't you use a sound recorder software to "record" the output from
the sound card to an mp3 file?

A friend of mine has a DVD of a concert and he wants to turn its
soundtrack into a CD so he can play it in his car. Can this be done? I
have both a DVD and CD burner but I have never tried this. 
Any suggestions?
