Gary, I had to check into this for a customer (restaurant) that wanted set up a pubic wi-fi access point via their cable account. The cable company said there isn't an issue with it as long as their customers are not selling the access to their service. May be different in different parts of the world though. No different than shoplifting or using unlicensed software.. There could be some verbage in the user agreement regarding single entities or something I suppose. There is also security issues as with any networking situation and of course the degradation of sharing the bandwidth between many users. GK
