Arthur... It means that an expression is stuck or cycling without an anchor to stop it. ;) Dividing by 0 produces an "overflow" in Access -- same thing really. JC, you just wrote a children's book -- you realize that right???? ;) Susan H. This generally occurs when water behind a dam reaches the top and starts to "over flow" or flow over the top of the dam. Now, applying this metaphor to Excel, I would guess that the spreadsheet is becoming full of numbers and are starting to "over flow" or flow over the top of the spreadsheet. I had this happen one time and I ended up with numbers all over the floor. To make matters worse, I was inserting numbers into the spreadsheet with a program that had pulled a recordset with millions of records so I was trying to mop up the numbers at the same time I was frantically searching for how to stop the program from running. It was a MESS!!! I had numbers spilling down the stairs, my kids were running around downstairs collecting them in cups and pouring them all over each other. We were cleaning up numbers for weeks - under the beds, in the bath tub, even number handprints on the fridge. Take my word for it, get this thing fixed QUICKLY or you could have a disaster on your hands. Is it Friday yet? ;-) John W.
